Excitement in an Old WiP & Black Faces in Fantasy Literature

But upon coming back to it the other day I did, I remember reading over my work and thinking, "Why isn't she [the MC with all the knowledge and power], black?" There was no reason she couldn't be after all, and I'd been inspired by all of the covers with black protagonists I'd seen in the fantasy section of Barnes and Noble, understanding an apt confusion for readers when they would see my DARK WORLD series and not see any black characters on the covers, though there are black characters in the world.

The Dark World & Reviews

This is going to be kind of short as I'm in my library at school and want to get back to writing before I head to my next class (stay in school kids!), but I just wanted to share some reviews with you guys that I've received for THE DARK WORLD: BOOK 1 recently.

Blood Talk: Elves!

These Elves were banished to beneath the Etrian Hills by Dracula for their attack on the Vampire City some 3 years from the first book's start. They are very ridiculed and have had their weapons taken from them, but they are still granted their magic by Dracula and the Council of Creatures.

Repost from S.C.Parris.com: Blood Talk; Blood Wine

Blood Talk; Blood Wine

January 20, 2015

Today was a bit crazy - and by crazy, I mean York College crazy. Long story short looks like I'll have to take out a(nother) loan. Something I seriously didn't want to do - but hey, when life throws you punches, you roll with 'em, right?

Anyway, I shot a new Blood Talk Episode:

Yup! Will edit it a bit later after I get some writing done.

I'm really proud of myself for continuing to make the videos, even with no script or anything, I started talking and the theme of the show just came together. Said theme: Vampires and why S.C. Parris likes them.

I'm so eager for you guys to see it. :)

Oh! My boyfriend got me this amazing Dracula wine from the Vampire Vineyard in California for my birthday. I cannot wait to taste it!

Well that's it for now! Check back here tomorrow for the video!

With blood and love,

Publication Dates

I know everyone over at Permuted is super excited this morning....er, afternoon. (Just realized it was 12 pm, as of typing this.) Anywho, we at Permuted just got a nice present in our emails this morning - we got the release dates for all of our novels/series...etc. And it's a relief, I must say, to see when my books will be out in the world. 2016 is the year you can expect, not only the first novel in The Dark World Series, but all 5, yes, all 5. Permuted and I will spit out all 5 books within a year, so you don't have to wait a year here or there for the next book in the series. Exciting to say the very least!

Unfortunately, I shall have to put all my amazing cover ideas on the back burner (ya-huck), while I churn out the rest of the series within the next year or so.

That said, I'm keeping this short, and will post the first release date, as I'm sure you're all dying (har-har) to see what it is.

As follows:

2/23/2016 The Dark World 1 - The Dark World

Awesome, no? Kind of like a late Valentine's Day present, if your Valentine is into Vampires and historical fiction and political squabbles between Vampires and Lycans?

They are? Oh, well, great! They'll love it!

The titles of the rest of the series have stuck in my head since I began seriously writing the second novel, and as the story fashioned itself, the titles of the remaining novels came out and stuck. And this was what, a year or two ago?

Who says I can't stick to one thing, huh?

Well, there you have it, the world of publishing at its finest.

I will post the rest of the release dates, the closer we get the release of THE DARK WORLD. What? Don't look at me like that. It's only fair.

I said stop it, Bela Lugosi's Dracula, I'm NOT releasing the dates of the next title!

Now, I'm going to go eat and tackle THE TWO SWORDS until my fingers fall off...or I have to go to work tomorrow.

Nevertheless, don't forget to

Revisiting Old Project

Humans take on a much bigger role in the Dark World, namely in the book I'm writing now, THE TWO SWORDS. And I feel it'll be interesting to see how they match up against the bigger, badder, Creatures of the World. I had thought about including them back in THE IMMORTAL'S GUIDE, but decided against it for whatever reason, it just didn't fit. Now, however, I see a point to them, and as everything else does in the series, they all point back to Dracula.

It amazes me how much a lot of people can be influenced by the decisions of one person who decided to take all the power for himself.

Thats what the series addresses and is definitely my intention to mention outwardly more than once: how much freedom can one have if one is thrust into a position of power - and will he be a good leader? Does he even want to lead?

In THE TWO SWORDS, we definitely learn more about Dracula and why he felt the way he did about wanting to become human and not continuing to be the monster he is.

I've revisited an old project, THE RATHER DEPRESSING TALES OF PATRICIA LAUREN BORDEAUX, and I'm resolved to finish it and get it into the hands of an agent and Permuted Press.

That's all for now, I'm off to write some more.

Keep your bite Dark Creatures!
